Step-by-Step Guide to the Process of Blastocyst Transfer

A blastocyst is an embryo of 5 days or more, which is transferred to the womb by the process of blastocyst transfer. In the IVF process, this is a great option to mature the embryo till the blastocyst stage to enhance the pregnancy chances.

Here is the step-by-step guide about what to expect during the process of blastocyst transfer – 

1. Explaining the Procedure – First of all, the procedure is explained to the couple along with the chances of pregnancy, risks and the best IVF options. These conditions are described based on their medical history, age and health conditions. 

2. Screening Tests – The screening tests are performed on both partners to know about any issues in their reproductive health. The screening tests include blood tests, hormonal tests, ovarian reserve tests, semen analysis, ultrasound etc.

7. Embryo Culture – These embryos are then allowed to grow in the lab where they are kept in a nutrient-rich culture media and controlled environmental conditions. This helps the embryos grow from two cells to multi-cells and become a blastocyst eventually. 8. Embryo Grading – In the embryo grading procedure, the embryos are assigned grades as per their health, arrangement of cells and their number.
