Disney World is located in Orlando, Florida, and opened in 1971 with two theme parks — Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot Center — plus two water parks and two resort hotels. There were also plans for an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT), which would have been a city filled with futuristic architecture and innovations from around the world. However, those plans were never realized because of financial difficulties during the construction.
