Was this your first choice as a career?
I didn’t always know that I wanted to be a doctor. In fact, I was originally interested in engineering. But, after a few years of working in the field, I realized that it wasn’t for me. I wanted to help people, so I decided to go to medical school. And now, here I am! As a urologist near me, I’m able to help patients with a wide range of problems. Plus, it’s a great feeling to know that I’m making a difference in people’s lives.
How did you get into this field?
I’m a urologist near Omaha, Nebraska. I grew up in Omaha and attended the University of Iowa. I graduated with the highest distinction with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. I was selected for membership in the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. After graduation, I completed my residency in urology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. I’ve been practicing urology near Omaha ever since.
What do you enjoy most about being a urologist?
I enjoy the intellectual challenge that urology presents. Every day I am seeing patients with a wide variety of problems, many of which are very complex. I also enjoy the personal relationships that I develop with my patients. They often become like family to me. I am very fortunate to have a career that is both challenging and rewarding.

I am board certified by the American Board of Urology. I have been married for 27 years and have four children. In my spare time, I enjoy running, fishing, and hunting.
