Shab-e-Barat is a highly celebrated festival by Muslims. It is mostly celebrated in Pakistan, Maldives, India, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Indonesia. It is performed in the month of Shaban.
The significance of Shab-e-Baraat lies with the 15th evening of Shaban. But for more rewards, people fast on both the 14th and 15th Shaban. In Saudi Arabia, this blissful night is known as the Laila-Tul-Bara’ah and Laila-Tul-Nisfe-min-Sha’ban.
But in India and Pakistan, it is known as Shab-e-Baraat. Most people also go to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and pray on this blessed night. If you want to perform Umrah during Shaban or any other month then check Lottrips for cheap Umrah Packages from Bangladesh.
Besides that many Muslims believe that it is not necessary to pray on this night. They just spend Shab-e-Baraat as the other normal nights. If you have the same confusion then you have come to the right place. Here we will see the significance of Shab-e-Barat according to Sunnah and Hadith. So let’s begin the discussion.
Importance of Shab-e-Barat in the light of Hadiths
Shab-e-Baraat is celebrated in the 8th month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims all across the world celebrate this night with full zest and make special arrangements for this night like praying all night, donating food, and keeping a fast.
During this revered night, Muslims seek Allah’s blessings, and forgiveness, and repent of their sins. The blessed night of Shab-e-Baraat starts at sunset on the 14th of Shaban and ends at dawn on the 15th of Shaban.
Furthermore, the whole month of Shaban is significant. In this blessed month, Muslims can repent of their previous mistakes and sin with a true heart and get forgiveness from Allah Almighty.
Muslims can also turn towards Allah and find His doors of forgiveness open for them on this blessed night. It means, every Muslim must make use of this blessed night and repent in front of Allah Almighty.
So that Allah forgives the sins of the person that he/she committed throughout the year. Many Islamic groups do not believe in the importance of Shab-e-Baraat. They only believe in the Quranic verses and the Quran says nothing about Shab-e-Baraat.
The only proof of the Significance of Shab-e Barat is in the Hadith. Being Muslims, we need to follow both the Quran and Sunnah and Holy Prophet (SAW). Indeed there is no proof of Shab-e-Baraat in the Quran but we can not ignore the Hadiths that teach us to pray on this blessed night. More info at https://lottrips.com/
May Allah Almighty forgive our sins and give us strength to follow the Sunnah of our Holy Prophet (PBUH). AMEEN!
The following hadiths of the Holy Prophet (SAW) show the significance of Shab-e-Baraat. So have a look. The first hadith is narrated by Hazrat Ali (RA) in which the Holy Prophet (SAW) said about the 15th of Shaban in such words:
“When it is the 15th of Shaban, then stand (in reverence) at night and fast during the day. Because Allah descends in this night at sunset to the first heaven and says: ‘Is there any seeker of forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Is there any petitioner of sustenance, that I may sustain him? Is there anyone in affliction, that I may remove his affliction? Is there anybody like this, like that (and so on)’. This continues until Fajr.”
In the second hadith, the Holy Prophet (SAW) said:
“On the 15th night of Shaban, Allah manifests and forgives all His creation except for the Mushrik (idolater) and the spiteful.”
In addition to that, the Mother of believers Hazrat Aisha (RA) reported:
“The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: ‘On the middle night of Shaban (that is, Shab-e-Baraat), Allah most high descends to the lowest heaven and remits more sins than the hair of the goats of Banu Kalb.’”
Hazrat Aisha also reported that:
“I missed Allah’s Messenger during the night and found Him in al-Baqui’. He (PBUH) said: Were you afraid that Allah and His Messenger would deal unjustly with you? I said: Allah’s Messenger, I thought that you had gone to some of your other wives. He (SAW) said: “Verily Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, comes down to the heaven of the world in “the middle night of Shaban” and forgives sins even more abundant than the hair of the goats of Kalb.”
The other narration by Hazrat Aisha (RA) is:
“The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did not fast in any month more than Shaban.”
