How to install a reverse osmosis water purifier

Today it is very easy to improve the quality of water at home, thanks to options such as installing a reverse osmosis water purifier.

One of the main advantages of purifiers is that there is no need to monitor liquid levels (as is the case when you buy drums). The process happens “behind the scenes”, you just have to open the tap to enjoy pure water.

But how does reverse osmosis work and how do you install a water purifier? Find the details here.

What is inverse osmosis?

To have pure water in the home, it is necessary to eliminate substances such as viruses, bacteria, traces of dust or earth, and minerals. This is possible with reverse osmosis, a process that consists of separating and isolating unwanted particles from the water so that the final result is free of contaminants.

How is this achieved? The mechanism is simple but efficient: in the first stage of reverse osmosis, pressure is applied to force the liquid to move from one side of the tank to the other, passing through a semi-permeable membrane that traps the larger molecules (the minerals, microorganisms, and contaminants).

In this way, in the second stage of reverse osmosis, clean water comes out at the opposite end and is distributed through the faucet, guaranteeing a purity level of between 90% and 95%.

Vigahome reverse osmosis purifiers are installed under the dishwasher and all the accessories for their correct operation are included in the packaging. Additionally, you will need to have tools such as a cross screwdriver, wrench, Teflon, drill, 8 mm and 11 mm bits. Read water softener beeping.

Installation steps

  1. Insert the membrane into the casing. The O’ Ring must go inside.
  2. Insert the 5 micron PP filter and carbon block (included in the package).
  3. Seal the connector to the accumulator tank with Teflon and install the valve.
  4. Check the accumulator tank pressure (must be between 6 and 8 psi).
  5. Put Teflon on the ¼ valve. Then connect to the ½ thread.
  6. Close the stopcock.
  7. Disconnect the flexible and connect the ¼ cut-off valve.
  8. Paste rubber on the inside of the collar.
  9. Drill an 8 mm hole in the drain pipe.
  10. Screw on the collar and leave a hole in the drain along with the collar connection.
  11. Make a hole with a 12 mm drill bit in the dishwasher to install the purified water dispensing faucet.
  12. Connect ¼ PP pipe to the access valve, and the end of the pipe to the supply inlet.
  13. Connect ¼ PP pipe to the accumulation tank.
  14. Remove the connection insurance and connect the pipe that comes from the accumulation tank. Then put the insurance back on.

  1. Fit quick connection on dispensing key.
  2. Connect ¼ PP pipe to dispensing tap.
  3. Connect the end of the ¼ PP pipe to the post-filter elbow and then to the collar.
  4. Connect the end of the PP ¼ pipe to the drain valve, verifying the correct direction of the check valve.
  5. Open the supply valve, close the accumulation tank valve and open the stopcock.

In the end, open the dispensing tap so that the air retained in the system comes out. About 10-15 minutes later, open the accumulator tank valve and close the faucet, allowing the tank to fill.

Wait 1 hour and remove all the accumulated water. This process must be repeated 2 times before using your new purifier.
