Hill Stations with Tourism Attraction and Shopping

The Central Line, the red line on London Underground maps, runs through central London.The line starts at Epping in the north-east and ends at a) Ealing Broadway in the west and West Ruislip in the north-west. The Central Line covers 74 km (46 mi) and serves 49 metro stations. Below are some of the Hill stations in Europe that most tourists use when visiting London.

Stratford station is the station where the Olympic Village (London 2012 Olympics) is located. Here you will need to change to the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and stop at Pudding Mill Lane (a stop from Stratford station) where the Olympic Stadium is located.

Liverpool Street Station is one of the largest railway stations in London. This is the station from which visitors take the train to Stansted Airport.

Other attractions close to Liverpool Street Station include the Gherkin Building, Toynbee Hall and the Whitechapel Art Gallery.

Bank Station is close to many attractions, including Mansion House (the Lord Mayor’s official residence in the City of London), the Bank of England, the Royal Exchange, Leadenhall Market and Lloyd’s Building.

The Lloyds building houses the London-based insurance organization Lloyds, the world’s leading insurance market.

St. Paul’s station is within walking distance of St. Paul’s Basilica, which is the second largest cathedral in the world after St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

Other attractions near St. Paul’s stations include the Museum of London, Millennium Footbridge, Shakespeare’s Globe Theater and Tate Modern. With Tate Modern you can stroll along the river and enjoy the wonderful sights and sounds of London.

Close to Chancery Lane station are the Court Inn, the Royal Court of Justice, the Yeomanry Museum and the London Silver Vault (home to the world’s largest retail collection of fine antique silver).

Stop at Holborn Lincoln Inn Station, British Museum, Sir John Soane Museum, Hunter Museum, London School of Economics and Royal College of Surgeons.

During the year, law students must take a certain number of meals in the hall at Lincoln Inn to qualify for a call to the bar.

If you are visiting the British Museum, Dominion Theater and Central YMCA, you can get off at Tottenham Court Road station. Most West End and London Chinatown theaters are south of Tottenham Court Road station.

Oxford Circus station is the center of London’s busiest shopping district. Here Oxford Street (which runs east-west) meets Regent Street (which runs north-south). Bond Street Station is to the west of Oxford Street Station. Bond Street shops sell elegant and expensive clothes and accessories. Celebrities from all over the world are often seen shopping on Bond Street.

New Bond Street and South Molton Street, both famous for their expensive fine jewelery and watches, are just a short walk from Bond Street Station.

Selfridges is just a 2 minute walk from the station.

Marble Arch station is at the west end of Oxford Street. Park Lane is opposite Marble Arch station, famous for its five-star hotels such as the Dorchester Hotel, Intercontinental Hotel and Hilton Park Lane. If you walk half way down Park Lane, you will see the Animal War Memorial. This memorial commemorates the contributions of service animals and soldiers during the war.

To the west of Marble Arch station, Hyde Park and Speakers Corner are less than 5 minutes’ walk away.

Lancaster Gate Station is the right place to visit Hyde Park Italy, Serpentine, Diana, Princess of Wales Fountain and Bayswater Road Art Gallery.

Queensway station is a stop if you are going to Kensington Palace. You can also start the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Walk from Kensington Gardens through the station. It is an 11 mile walk through 4 Royal Gardens, 3 Royal Palaces and many famous London attractions. Just follow the Diana memorial boards included the romantic places in Thailand.

Fashionable Notting Hill Gate is known for the Notting Hill Gate Carnival. The event takes place here every year during the August public holiday and is organized by the Caribbean community. It is a very popular event and hundreds of thousands of people flock here every year to join in the festivities.
