Blue and Yellow Macaw

It is the Blue as well as Yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna) Also called the blue-gold Macaw is part of the macaw species of parrots. They are Blue Macaw and the yellow Macaws are a breeder in the tropical rainforests that are swampy and stretch across South America from Panama south to Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay.

BLUE AND YELLOW MACAW CHARACTERISTICS

BLUE AND YELLOW MACAW CHARACTERISTICS

BLUE AND YELLOW MACAW REPRODUCTION

The Blue and Yellow Macaw attain breeding age at between 3 and 4 years old. They are known to be paired throughout their lives and reside in small families. What Do Baby Birds Eat  Blue Macaws and Yellow Macaws nest high above the ground in holes in large dead trees. The eggs are small, and only two or three are laid inside the nest. It is believed that females incubate them. But, males and females ferociously defend the eggs.

The moment the chicks hatch, they’re blind and without feathers. Parents will only raise the strongest click and leave the rest to starve until death. Infant Macaws do not grow their full-length plumage until they reach 10 weeks old. When they begin to grow feathers (or fledge), they are at home with their parents for a few months before they can be independent. Macaws are able to live for a long time. Blue Macaw and Yellow Macaw are able to live to 60 years old.
