Qualifying for Disability in the State of Florida

Florida has many of the same requirements as other states when it comes to being approved for a disability claim. Disability is a federal program run at central government level but each state has its own office to monitor and review cases. Florida is no different.

If you have earned 40 work credits in your adult life then you qualify for Social Security Disability (SSDI). 40 work credits sounds like a lot but it really isn’t. It’s just 10 years of full time employment or 20 years of part time employment. You get the idea.

According to a prominent SSDI attorney in Melbourne, Florida you can also qualify with less work credits if you are a younger person. Attorney Maria R. says “If you are a younger person and suffer a disability then the required work credits goes down dramatically. We can get you approved if you were working and you became disabled, at any age.”

I am sure this is welcomed news for people who may not have a long work history and yet become incapacitated and are unable to perform full-time work duties.

According to statistics about ¼ of adults in Florida receive some sort of disability assistance. The average disability recipient gets about $15,000 per year.

An attorney can improve a person’s chances of being approved by up to 40%. That is a statistic that should not be underestimated. This is because disability attorneys know the exact process like the back of their hand. They know the ins and outs so to speak. It might behoove you to speak to an attorney specializing in disability if it is something you are looking to apply for.
