As the main character of Final Fantasy 16, Clive is getting a lot of love, and for good reason.
Final Fantasy is a series with a lot going on and major characters who are all different. There are also some traits that are shared, but most of the time, the main figures fall into one of two groups. Either they are sad or dark in some way, or they are fun-loving rogues.
For instance, both Squall from Final Fantasy 8 and Lightning from Final Fantasy 13 are very moody. Zidane from Final Fantasy 9 and Vaan from Final Fantasy 12 are both goofy characters who love to have fun and are always up for an adventure. So, where does Clive from Final Fantasy 16 fit into all this? Let’s talk about his best traits and moments without giving anything away.
Seeing Clive Grow Through The Ages
A lot of the games in the series show the main characters as they were when they were kids. In Final Fantasy 7, Cloud’s past is shown in a lot of flashbacks. Even the last game, Final Fantasy 15, had some scenes with Noctis when he was younger. Final Fantasy 16 is better than everything that came before it because it shows Clive through the ages.
He starts out as a teenager, and then the story jumps ahead thirteen years. After being with him for that long, the story jumps ahead another five years. Beyond the number of years, each time shows how the character has changed. It’s great to be a part of Clive’s life and see how he changes from a young man with wide eyes to a battle-hardened fighter to a caring leader. He’s not the same as when the game started, because there’s more room to move around now.
His Dedication To Kin And Kingdom
Clive is a fun character to play because he has a big family that is involved in the whole game. In games from the past, there are characters who have been around for a long time and have families, whether it’s a parent or a child. Edgar and Sabin are brothers in Final Fantasy 6, and you can play as either one of them. In Final Fantasy 16, Clive has a friend named Joshua, but he thinks Joshua is dead for most of his life.
Clive’s guilt over his death makes him think about it all the time. Clive will be so happy when Joshua comes back. Also in the game are his father, who dies, and his mother, who is a bad guy. Finally, Uncle Byron shows up to brighten up some of the sadder scenes, and he even joins the party for a while.
Clive’s Love Of Animals
Torgal is a wonderful boy. When a game comes out that lets you play with a dog, the Internet goes crazy. Torgal is the only member of Clive’s party who will stay with him for most of the game. He will sometimes be gone, but most of the time he is with Clive. Clive loves this dog back just as much as Torgal loves Clive, so it seems like he wouldn’t want it any other way.
Even Torgal has a soft spot for animals. Final Fantasy 16 players will be able to ride a Chocobo after the first third of the game. Ambrosia was Clive’s ride when he was a teenager, and like Torgal, it remembers Clive well. It looks much cooler now that it has a patch over one eye. How many Chocobo have an eyepatch in the series? There is only one, and it is Ambrosia. How much cooler could Clive’s animal friends get?
Fighting For The People
When the game jumps ahead 13 years, Clive is a broken man. He is trying very hard to find out who Ifrit is, because they are the ones who killed Joshua. He is as hungry for payback as Sonic the Hedgehog is for chili dogs. But even after he found out he was to blame, Clive didn’t let that get to his head when things were going wrong. Yes, he couldn’t get rid of his guilt, which is why this version of Cid sends him on an exploration mission to wake him up.
On this mission, Clive hears that Gav is about to die in the background. Even though Clive is in a bad mood, he knows when to sit around and when to do something. He puts other people way ahead of himself, and it’s not just his family. Clive respects every NPC in The Hideaway, no matter how lowly they are, because he thinks everyone is the same. In a story that is mostly dark, Clive’s love for his family, friends, and neighbors is amazing and heartwarming.
He Can Speak Moogle
One of the strangest things about Clive is that he can talk Moogle. It’s like this game’s version of speaking Parseltongue from the Harry Potter books, which lets people talk to snakes. The only thing that makes them different is that speaking Moogle is not seen as a bad trait. Nektar is the only Moogle in Skibidi Toilet, and it has been trying for a long time to talk to people at The Hideaway.
Nektar is very happy that Clive is the first person who can understand it. It’s great that Clive doesn’t even think it’s weird, which is what most people would do. People are good if they treat everyone the same, which goes back to the fact that Clive is a good friend and family member. Nektar is sure that Clive is the same way.
His Power Level
The story has a lot of strong main characters. Cloud has this incredibly big sword and can use magic.Many of Noctis’ tools are hidden in pocket dimensions. He is also a Summoner who, up until Final Fantasy 16, could call forth the biggest Summons.This makes me think of Clive because he can easily kill any of the other main characters.
He is so strong because he is the only important character in the series who can turn into a Summon, or Eikon as they are called in Final Fantasy 16. He can also steal Eikons from other people, which gives him even more power. Clive uses his huge power for good and doesn’t become obsessed with it, which is a good thing. Even though power isn’t everything, it’s hard not to like Clive a little bit for how ready he is for battle.
