5 Important Factors to Consider When Selecting a Cloud Service Provider

With so many Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) out there and no clear consensus on how to evaluate them, the process of selecting one can be daunting. To help you make your decision, consider these five important factors when choosing your provider.

1) How big is their infrastructure?

A CSP’s infrastructure is important to consider because it will determine how well they can handle your organization’s needs. If they don’t have enough resources, your organization may suffer. Make sure to ask about their capacity and find out if they have room to grow.

What are their security protocols? (five sentences): Security is always a top priority when it comes to data. You’ll want to make sure that the CSP you select has robust security protocols in place to protect your data. Ask them about encryption methods and which agencies have certified them. The way you handle security protocol information should also be carefully considered so that this sensitive information doesn’t end up in the wrong hands.

2) How do they manage it?

One of the most important factors to consider when selecting a CSP is how they manage their infrastructure. This includes everything from the physical servers and networking equipment to the software that powers the services. A good CSP will have a robust system in place to ensure that all of these components are kept up-to-date and running smoothly. What’s their SLA?.: Another factor to keep in mind is what type of service level agreement (SLA) the provider offers. The SLA provides you with an outline of what you can expect if something goes wrong with your service, as well as guidelines for handling any other issues or questions you may have while using it. Is it available where I need it?: Depending on your needs, availability might be a key consideration for your organization when selecting a CSP.

3) Do they have industry certifications?

There are a variety of industry certifications that show a CSP has met certain standards. Some examples include ISO 27001, SOC 2, and PCI DSS. Make sure the provider you’re considering has the certifications that are important to you.

Do they have a good reputation? (five sentences): A CSP’s reputation can tell you a lot about their quality of service. Talk to other businesses in your industry and see if they have any recommendations. Consider reviews on websites like G2 Crowd and TrustRadius. If possible, contact customers directly for input on how the CSP handled different situations.

4) What about disaster recovery services?

Disaster recovery (DR) services are an important factor to consider when selecting a cloud service provider (CSP). A CSP should be able to provide you with a DR plan that meets your organization’s needs. Here are five things to look for in a CSP’s DR offering:

1. Availability – How often is the data backed up? How quickly can it be restored?

2. Security – What security measures are in place to protect your data? Does the CSP use encryption or passwords? 3. Redundancy – Is there one instance of storage, or multiple copies of storage across different devices and locations? 4. Scalability – Can the DR solution grow as your business grows? 5. Failover plans – If something happens, what will happen to all of my data?

5) What type of support are they offering?

The first factor you should consider when selecting a CSP is the type of support they’re offering. Do they have 24/7 customer support? What about live chat or phone support? You’ll want to make sure they have a robust support system in place in case you run into any issues.
